grom squad

Dream team. Never a dull moment with our grom elite. Good news too as we have finally booked the plane tickets to take this bunch of surf rats to Morocco. A 16 strong team of groms and instructors all ready and amped (like you wouldn't believe) for some culture and barrels.

BLUES

For the first time in many years, Ive reached mid Septemeber without those End of Summer Blues. Maybe with so many things to keep me busy and planning our first surf school trip for our elite team to Morocco, I've maybe felt occupied.
However, finding a few pics from last year September trip to France hasn't helped!
Jordy Smith busting huge Airs and memories of warm evenings still pulling into massive bombs are just not what i need right now.

November - Morocco: SSC elite team Keep posted for more info!

BellyBoarder

Gavin Randall from Traditional Surfing co recently helped me out with a SSC bellyboard. Handmade in Cornwall they are super fun to slide and its brought a whole new meaning to surfing for me.
Check out their site and get your self some ply.

KOOK DEUX

G - Unit

Heading off to the big smoke this week, Grace has been the surf mum of the school. Quite often responsible for keeping us in order.
Grace is off to start a Physio degree in London. Best of luck Gracie and thanks for all your hard work and support this summer.

Cadets

Our finalists this year included Joss, Jacob, Jowan and Owen who took the Ashley Moffatt Memorial trophy for determination. Another great year. Thanks to all the parent who took their time to bring the groms to the beach every saturday morning.

Fab Four

Our Elite squad has gone from strength to strength this year. A tough final saw these four fight it out on a good low tide Sennen bank. Jowan Allen took 1st place with outstanding back hand surfing while Oran Lynch destroyed left handers throughout the contest but only managed a few waves in the final. Still good enough to earn 2nd place. Jake Sage and Favio Owen-Bridge have proved their worth this year and we are amazed by their progress. Great final and a great crew. These four along with the rest of our elite squad will be joining us in Morocco for our first team trip. We are excited to see them surf in Morocco. Keep checking the blog and press for news on that trip

PUB CLUB

As these negs scanned in I felt that warmth on my back as if I was there. Come on Septemeber, I know you have it in you.

Grain

King Elliot + Prince Oran

Two stand outs for me were the eventual winner Elliot Dudley and 12 year old stylist Oran Lynch. Not easy to turn up to a comp at 12 years of age and hold your own with the countries best loggers. One of SSC's team riders, Oran did us proud and proves to be one to watch for the future.
As for Elliot. Im sure we will be seeing more of him on that Bing.

HIP WIGGLER INVITATIONAL

Yesterday saw James Parry host his first Hip Wiggler surf contest at Gwithian in Hayle. Supported by Insight, Vans and Slide 65, the contest was a huge success.
Despite drizzle most of the day the surf pumped and competitors were pulling all the stops out in an attempt to win the first Hip Wiggler Invitational.
First place went to Welshman Elliot Dudley with Sam Bleakley taking 2nd, Jimbo 3rd and Mat 'Caf' Travis 4th.
Congratulations to James for a great first effort and may next year be as successful. Maybe Sun as well?
